Hwy 7/8 Bridge Loop Kitchener

hiker

This loop walk became a reality for me when the pedestrian & bicycle bridge was completed (Spring 2025) over the Conestoga Parkway (Hwy 7/8) in Kitchener. The focus of this walk is primarily within the Shoemaker Storm Water Area shown on the generalized map below. Note that within that section of the map Lakeside Park is shown as a blue coloured pond in the left portion. Apparently the lake/pond was at one time called Shoemaker Pond.

Primary Route/Suggestions

In the Google Map below the primary route (loop) is the red coloured track. There are several blue coloured tracks. Blue tracks are alternative pathways that a hike leader may wish to use if some parts of the main track (red) pass through a low area that may be wet. The red route is usually fine in late spring but some parts of it may become overgrown in the summer/fall. If you are leading a group of people on such a loop, it is best for the leader to prehike the route to be used. NOTE: Those who are "into" maps and map related data may wish to explore Kitchener Data Hub which is a collection of data and insights that align with Kitchener’s Digital Strategy.
